If you want to know how to half swipe on Instagram DMs. Then read this post for this:

Open the Instagram app on your device.

Next, go to your DM inbox by tapping on the Message icon in the top right corner of your screen.

Then locate the chat that you want to see without the other person knowing.

Swipe down fast to refresh your conversations.

Now, you have to read the message by scrolling slowly before reaching the last message.

So, the sender will not know that you have read his message.

I don’t no but Instagram regularly updates its features and interface, so new functionality may have been introduced since then.
